So I already put this on Facebook, but here goes...
So since like first grade I've wondered what was up with my middle name. Even when I was like 6, teachers were like "Blaze?!? Really?" So I eventually got around to asking my mom about it when I was in like 3rd grade and she just told me "I saw it on TV and liked it." I wasn't super happy with that explanation but I was satisfied with it for a while. But then in junior high everyone started thinking it was a drug nickname or something. And I couldn't be entirely sure they were wrong. But people asking me about it kind of got my curiosity running and I finally got around to asking my mom at dinner tonight.
So I ask her, and she says "I saw a commercial for Bull Durham and that was the girls name." That sufficed as an explanation, but I still took a mental note of it so I could google it later and see who the character was, because I assumed that she had to be pretty rad if someone was going to decide that I was going to be named after her. And just now I googled it, and it turned out that there wasn't any character in that movie named Blaze. Which left me even more confused. My mom has no idea where my middle name came from.
So I do some more research and see that this movie "Blaze" is by the same director. And I had found this movie earlier searching for the origin of the name, but I decided it couldn't be the movie I'm named after because the main character is a stripper, and that would be totally ridiculous. But then I realized tonight that it was.
I am named after a stripper.
But not just any fictional stripper. Blaze Starr is a real person. A real stripper. And she's famous for having an affair with this Louisiana governor who was 37 years older than her. And she trained a panther to undress her onstage. I'm not making this up.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaze_Starr
I would be annoyed with my mom's inability to doublecheck these things before she goes ahead and names her kids after burlesque dancers, but it's such a ridiculous and amazing story that it's impossible not to enjoy it. Plus I have an interesting story to tell people about myself now.
Still, I'm seriously questioning my mom's tastes. Happy parents' weekend, Mom :D

Stuff I Found Online
This one is just super random and pointless, but I'd rather do this than essay, so here you go.
I'd like to start this off with this:
If only.
Besides that, there's this web series called Lunchbox on IFC and I'm kind of addicted to it... Every day, there's a short clip about cool stuff concerning the web, music, film, politics, or culture. My favorites are Mondays with Aimee Carlson and Fridays with Jon Gabrus. And Aimee is Trevor's girlfriend! I adore her.
They used to upload them on YouTube but they stopped suddenly... sadness.
My friend Mark linked me to this song on Newgrounds called The Assumption Song and it is hilarious.

He also showed me this flow chart. I find it beautiful.
That's kind of it for this week. Unless you want to look at one of those "put your songs on shuffle and it tells the story of your life" things. I did it because I'm in Humans and Their Environment class and it's boooring...
Opening credits.
The Who- Amazing Journey
That’s nuts.
Waking Up.
Beastie Boys- Root Down
“It's Not A Put Down
I Put My Foot Down
And Then I Make Some Love, I Put My Root Down”
This makes too much sense so far
First Day of School.
Men Without Hats- Where Do the Boys Go?
HAHA, what?
Falling in Love.
blink-182- Apple Shampoo
Apple Shampoo is a break-up song… how sad.
First Song.
The Jimmy Hendrix Experience- …And the Gods Made Love
That’s apt.
Fight Song.
Dick Dale & the Del-Tones- Surf Beat
Fighting to surf rock can only end badly
Breaking Up.
blink-182- Adam’s Song
That sounds like a gross overreaction
Prom.
Devo – Mecha-Mania Boy
I probably would go to prom with the guy in that song
Life.
Descendents – Eunuch Boy
How sad for me…
Mental Breakdown.
Primus- Space Farm
I’m pretty sure most Primus instrumentals sound like a mental breakdown
Driving.
The Hives- Knock Knock
From the context of driving, this song can be interpreted to be about traffic. Huh.
Flashback.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience- Ain’t No Telling
Have you heard this song? That’s super appropriate too.
Getting Back Together.
Man or Astro-man?- Reverb 10,000
I would get back with someone to that song.
Wedding.
The Ramones- Now I Wanna Be a Good Boy
These fit too well too often.
Birth of a Child.
Primus- Grandad’s Little Ditty
So my dad would sing this?
Final Battle.
Across the Universe- All You Need is Love
Waiit… there’s a battle? To a Beatles cover? Explain…
Death Scene.
Man or Astro-man? – Principles Unknown
Hmmm….
Funeral Song.
Rush- Twilight Zone
So the afterlife is the 4th dimension. They better play Rush at my funeral.
End Credits.
AC/DC- Squealer
HAHA, that’s a ridiculous song to end with…
That's it. Thanks for reading :)
AND OH!!!
Shoutout to Tremendosaur and Josh Cheney for actually looking at my blog!!! They are a wonderful sketch comedy group and man.

Awesometastic Sunday Comedy Link-o-rama
As I've been saying, I love comedy. My Fridays are basically devoted to the improv troupes at school and on sundays, good ol' Shimosh and I like to hit up the LA comedy scene.
I've been to Josh Fadem's Acid Reflux a few times now. The first time, we went to meet the Whitest Kids, but Fadem is amazing so we can't help but keep going back. If you didn't know, Fadem's in a few Whitest Kids sketches...
The comedians that come to the shows are amazing. The first time we met Ed Galvez. He hosts the Ed Galvez Punk House show at the Westside Eclectic in LA and he's just an all-around good dude.
At the show a couple of weeks ago, we met Josh Cheney and Tony Sam. You might know Josh from Tim and Eric's Awesome show.
And Tony Sam is just crazy awesome. He read us The Phantom Trucker and we lol'd.
And at the show not on Sunday but the Sunday before, we met Karl Hess, one of my new favorite people ever.

It turns out, he also hosts a comedy show every other Sunday called the Sunday Sunday Sunday Show! (GRAAAAAAVEDIGGERRRRRRRRR) So we went to that on Sunday and it was FANTASTIC. It was the one year anniversary of the show, so Amy brought hats for she and I to wear. Karl thought that was awesome so he stole our hats and wore them for a bit. His hair+ hats = epic awesomeness. He was also wearing a velvet jacket and flower shirt with the cuffs rolled over. He crazy.
There were a LOT of comedians there. We met Ed Galvez and Tony Sam, again, and I got to meet a bunch more hilarious/chill dudes including Kyle Kinane, Raj Desai, Pat Boccuzzi, Asterios Kokkinos, and Elisha Yaffe.
After the show, we chilled out with them and had amazing chocolate and strawberry cake, and then we all went to In-N-Out and talked about how screwed our country is if McCain wins. And also about, how in the bible, Elisha was a bald guy that a bunch of kids were making fun of. So Elisha called upon God to smite them, and summoned two she bears who killed 42 kids. Best story ever.
In other news(!!!) Kellyn directed me toward "Imperial Rhapsody," a parody of Bohemian Rhapsody but about Star Wars. It's genius.
There's also this site by this artist Brandon Bird, and he does amazing stuff. Like Letters to Walken. I think more children should write Christmas notes to Christopher Walken. It would make the world a better place.

I Like Comedy
As you probably already know if you're reading this, I am obsessed with comedy. You should also be aware that my favorite comedy troupe is The Whitest Kids U'Know.
Lately I've been discovering a ton of new comedy stuff though. USC has a pretty amazing comedy scene (Trevor Moore went here for a semester, even) and I've been getting more and more into it as school has progressed... I even auditioned for two improv troupes, Second Nature and Commedus Interruptus. But I didn't make it because those guys are actually tremendously funny.
Being a sketch comedian, I was really interested to see what sketch stuff each group had to offer, and I was pleasantly surprised to come across Tremendosaur, a group comprised of some Second Nature members, and Good Neighbor, whose members came from Commedus. They're both AMAZING, so check them out... or at least watch these vids:
Good Neighbor

Pirates!
I went to an improv show last night, and in the small talk during the opening, Dan from Second Nature mentioned that a pirate ship in Somalia hijacked a ship with tanks on it. As much as I hope that this gets resolved and that no one gets hurt, I think it's rad that there are still pirates who do that kind of stuff.

Maybe Starting This Back Up...
I was in my intro to journalism class yesterday and my professor was talking about how important it is to maintain a blog. I felt pretty useless because that's pretty much the opposite of what I've been doing. So, here I am. Maintaining. This should be interesting. To me.
The guest speaker in the class was Mickey Cantor, who was a big player in the Clinton-Gore campaign. He had all kinds of insider info and anecdotes about it and it was just cool to listen to him. We always have the raddest guests in that class.
On a completely different note, I was walking to my science class yesterday and I saw a guy rollerblading around campus. That’s not something you see everyday. Because you just don’t do that. It’s the year 2008. No one rollerblades around campus anymore. And I thought I’d be really excited to see it, because I thought it would be so ridiculous, but I was actually really disappointed. Because Trevor told me that ten years ago when he went to USC, he would rollerblade around this campus with his discman like a giant dork. And that was the funniest mental image to me. Ever. But this guy was all smooth about his rollerblading. I was like “that’s not awkward at all! You’re not allowed to do that.” And that's that story.
Besides that... USC lost their football game. That sucked. I went to the gym at 9 to watch the season premiere of The Office, and they had screens up with the game so I pretty much simultaneously saw Jim propose and my team lose. I'll have to say I'm a bit more excited for Jim and Pam than I'm bummed about our team losing a football match.
And I discovered some rad online stuff last night. Kellyn introduced me to Wonder Showzen, which is edgy and adorable and I love it:
With the help of Steph, I also rediscovered the Mario Paint composer. This is much more impressive than the stuff I used to do:
Kellyn also told me about "dog turd soup."
Those are meatballs filled with corn. Gross, right?

I made a blogspot!!!
I'm not exactly sure what to write... But yesterday and today are rad. Here's why...
- It was Trevor Moore's birthday yesterday. He turned 28.
- I chatted with Zach Cregger for a bit before I finally went to bed and he endorsed a collage I made :P
- I finished everything I need to do in art this quarter, so I got to watch WKUK on my iPod
- I finished my practice AP essay early, so I got to watch WKUK on my iPod
- We had random cookies and apple juice in English
- I finished my psych test early (and got an A), so I got to watch WKUK on my iPod
- My Spanish teacher was gone so we played Scrabble
- It's SPRING BREAK with MINIMAL HOMEWORK
- I was brought to the chat like Tankra by Kellyn, for to speak my name is to summon my awful presence
- I got to wear my birthday hat at the barbecue while listening to WKUK piped through the speakers
- I talked to my bestest buddies in the WKUK chat
- Trevor commented me about another collage I made
